Everything you need to know about Shrewsbury Park and Ride's new timetable coming in November
Plans to suspend one of the three services was halted last month
Shrewsbury’s Park and Ride services are set to run under a new timetable from November.
Visitors to Shrewsbury are being reminded that the Park and Ride services will operate under a new timetable from Monday, November 2.
The changes follow a U-turn on plans to suspend the Meole Brace Park & Ride in Shrewsbury, which was scheduled to close permanently in November.
New arrangements - provided by Hotspur Buses - will see Oxon and Harlescott retain frequent daytime services alongside new evening journeys running every 20 minutes.
The Meole Brace service will continue to operate, with buses running every 20 minutes, Monday to Saturday.
New evening services at Oxon and Harlescott
Passengers using the Oxon site, behind Bicton Heath Co-op, and Harlescott, next to Tesco Extra, will benefit from extended operating hours under the new timetable.
At both sites, the first bus will leave at 7.20am, with services running every 20 minutes until 8am. Frequencies will then increase to every 12 minutes between 8am and 5pm.
A new evening service will run every 20 minutes from 5pm until 9.40pm. The last bus back from the town centre is expected to leave at approximately 9.50pm.
The new evening journeys will operate as stopping services, allowing passengers to board and alight at stops along the routes.
Meole Brace service to continue
The Meole Brace Park and Ride, located behind the Darwin’s Edge housing development, will run every 20 minutes from Monday to Saturday - without the enhanced 12-minute frequencies during peak hours.
The first bus will leave the site at 7.20am, while the last service from Shrewsbury town centre will depart at approximately 6.30pm.
How much does Shrewsbury Park and Ride cost?
There are no proposed changes to the cost of the park and ride service, but a new five-day saver ticket will be available for £7.50.
Return journeys cost £2 per adult, while concessionary bus pass holders will pay £1. Accompanied children under the age of 16 will travel free.
