The Shropshire Antique Bottle Collectors Club is holding its annual fair at Bayston Hill Memorial Hall on Sunday, November 1, with around 20 stalls selling bottles and other collectables.

The items often have links to long-forgotten local businesses and offer a glimpse into the area’s social history.

Club chairman John Thompson said many of the bottles had once been thrown away with household rubbish but were now sought after by collectors around the world.

He said prices could range from as little as £1 to several thousand pounds for rare examples.

The fair will also welcome people who have found an old bottle and want to identify it, as well as those who are simply interested in seeing what is on offer.

Admission runs from 9am to noon, costing £4 before 10am and free thereafter.

Free on-site parking will be available, along with hot and cold snacks and drinks.

Any profits from the event will be donated to the West Midlands Air Ambulance. Last year, the club raised £1,000 for the charity with the help of a matching donation.

Mr Thompson said the organisers hoped to attract plenty of visitors, whether they were experienced collectors or simply curious about the items on display.

The fair takes place at Bayston Hill Memorial Hall, postcode SY3 0DR.
