Enterprise House celebrates 30 years of supporting Bishop’s Castle community
The community resource centre marked its 30th anniversary with a visit from Shropshire’s Lord Lieutenant
Enterprise House in Bishop’s Castle has celebrated 30 years of supporting the local community.

Past and present staff, volunteers, board members and long-term supporters gathered at the centre to mark the milestone, joined by His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mrs Anna Turner.
Mrs Turner was given a tour of the facilities before meeting people who have played a part in Enterprise House’s history.
She praised the organisation as a crucial community resource and a valuable one-stop shop which always offers a warm welcome.
Thanking those involved for their contribution, she said: “People just want someone there to help, and it is such a comfort to the local community that you’re here.”
Enterprise House manager Polly Owen said the centre had become a key part of life in Bishop’s Castle.
“Enterprise House sits at the heart of our community, and we couldn’t have got to this point without the support and commitment of the people here today,” she said.
“Reaching this milestone is especially impressive considering the company has far exceeded its initial lifespan of just three years.”

Enterprise House is operated by Rural Lifeline C.I.C. and provides community and business support from its Bishop’s Castle base.
Its work includes providing information and digital support, as well as facilities for workshops, offices and hot-desks. The organisation also manages the town’s library, SpArC Theatre, all-weather sports pitch and Bishop’s Castle and Beyond local directory.
As well as celebrating its 30th anniversary, the organisation has secured the lease on the building for a further 25 years.
Mrs Owen said this would allow Enterprise House to continue developing its services and supporting businesses, individuals and community groups in Bishop’s Castle and beyond.
“We plan to continue to offer and build our wide range of services with the aim of supporting sustainable and inclusive communities in the area,” she said.
“We will continue to look for new ways to support businesses, individuals and groups in Bishop’s Castle and beyond.”
