David Moyes feels Thierno Barry has even more to offer after hat-trick

Everton manager praises striker’s changed ‘mindset’ but believes he can improve again.
Thierno Barry scored the first hat-trick of his Everton career in the 4-0 Carabao Cup win over Preston but manager David Moyes still wants more from the striker.
Barry took his tally to four in two games – he managed just eight in his first season – with new signing Brennan Johnson scoring his first club goal since November.
“I think he (Barry) was working with someone in the summer who tried to change his mindset a little bit,” said Moyes.
“He found it difficult last year, which a lot of boys coming in from overseas do, which is even worse if you are a centre-forward.
“Generally, he has been much better since he came back. But I still think I would like more.
“One or two opportunities he had that he didn’t score, I am annoyed with those ones, I want him to score those as well.”
The Everton manager, however, was much happier with Johnson’s contribution having played only a few minutes as a substitute at the weekend following his swap deal from Crystal Palace with Dwight McNeil going in the other direction.
“I was really pleased. Everyone remembers him at Tottenham, where he got 15 or 16 goals in a season,” he added.
“To come on with 20 minutes to go he made a great assist for Thierno and also finished one for himself, so I thought that was more like the Brennan Johnson people recognise. Hopefully his confidence gets a big lift from that.”
Despite the performance Moyes is keen to make additions to his squad before the end of the transfer window.
“I think we definitely need to continue to make additions, that’s for sure,” he said.
“We thought the squad was quite thin last year, and at the moment, if you take the way the numbers work, we are still one down from where we were even last year.
“I still think we are short in the squad and I still think we are short in quality in some places and I need to try add that.”
Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom, who made seven changes after opening their Championship campaign with two defeats, is in a similar position.
“A difficult one for lots of reasons. At the minute we are putting out fires with the team we are picking, thinking of Charlton (on Saturday) ahead,” he said.
“We are miles away from where we need to be, we know that. Frustrating.”
