Wolves striker fires back at training session cancellation reports

The forward has been in the headlines this week.

Striker Tolu Arokodare has hit back at “inaccurate” reports after he forced the cancellation of a Wolves training session.

Boss Cesar Peixoto is understood to have halted Monday’s session at Compton Park after Arokodare refused to leave the first-team group.

The 25-year-old, widely expected to leave Molineux this summer, is believed to want a move to Fiorentina after rejecting the chance to join Trabzonspor.

Arokodare was not part of the squad for Wednesday’s 1-0 friendly win at Maidenhead United.

The Nigerian instead took to social media to address the controversy.

He wrote: “I was very surprised and disappointed to see the media reports today, many of which are inaccurate.

“Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards.

“My commitment has always been to prepare myself as well as possible so that I can contribute to my teammates and the club whenever I am called upon.

“I remain under contract with Wolves, and my only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract.”

Arokodare joined Wolves from Genk for £24million last summer but scored just three Premier League goals as the club were relegated from the Premier League.

In April, he faced disciplinary action after a dressing room bust-up with team-mate Mateus Mane during a 4-0 defeat at West Ham in which he was the sole aggressor.
