Manchester United linked again with Wolves goalkeeper

More this morning on the future of Sam Johnstone, who looks likely to leave Molineux this summer.

Reports of Manchester United’s interest in their own academy product first surfaced at the weekend and feature again today in The Athletic.

It says Johnstone is one of several targets being considered by the Red Devils, with their current back-up Altay Bayindir likely to depart during the window.

Leeds keeper Karl Darlow is also on the list and is due to be a free agent when his contract at Elland Road expires at the end of the month.

Both Darlow and Johnstone would qualify as homegrown players, a quota United must be mindful of when submitting their squad for the Champions League.

Midfielder facing uncertain future

Marshall Munetsi’s hopes of securing a permanent move away from Wolves and joining Paris FC appear to be fading.

The Zimbabwe international midfielder spent the second half of the season on loan in France after being deemed surplus to requirements by Rob Edwards.

A permanent switch was desired, yet reports from Paris now claim the chances of a deal are “very low”.

Wolves will likely seek to move Munetsi out elsewhere this summer. The 29-year-old still has two years left on his contract at Molineux.

Villa tracking Liverpool star

Villa are reported to be among the clubs monitoring Cody Gakpo’s situation at Liverpool.

The Netherlands international’s future is in a little doubt following the exit of Arne Slot from Anfield and uncertainty over his role with new Reds boss, Andoni Iraola.

According to Teamtalk, Liverpool are not actively looking to sell at this point, though the situation could change later in the summer.

Villa are among a host of clubs claimed to be interested, along with Tottenham, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and several others on the continent.
