Rotherham 3 Shrewsbury Town 3: Six-goal thriller in Yorkshire
Both sides took a share of the spoils from a dramatic game.
Two red cards and six goals made for a thrilling 3-3 draw as Shrewsbury Town were held by Rotherham in South Yorkshire.
Paul Mullin squandered a golden chance inside the first three minutes, clean through on goal only to be denied by a fine save from Will Brook.
The Town keeper was then at fault as Mullin made amends, lofting the ball over him to put the hosts ahead after a hopeful punt upfield from Julian Eyestone.
The lead was doubled moments later, with the former Wrexham man converting from close range after Aaron Nemane’s cross.
Just past the midway point of the first half, Rotherham were reduced to ten men when Kian Spence was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Will Gray.
Moments later, Salop halved the deficit as Josh Davison finished from close range.
Rotherham had further opportunities to extend their lead before the break but failed to take them.
The first half ended with a lengthy stoppage after George Lloyd suffered a serious head injury, with the match paused for more than 10 minutes.
Town drew level just before the hour mark when Arkell Jude-Boyd’s wonderful cross was nodded home at the back post by Josh Ruffels.
Salop’s comeback was complete not long after. Gray’s cross was flicked on, and the captain was on hand at the back post to bundle the ball over the line.
Rotherham got the sixth goal of the afternoon, though levelling the score when Tom Bradshaw scored from Jayce Fitzgerald’s set piece.
Both sides would end the game with 10-men after Kian McMahon-Brown was shown a straight red card for a push late on, and neither team could find a winner.
