Yarnley, 13, will compete in the 100m and 200m backstroke, 200m Individual Medley and 400m Individual Medley races at Ponds Gorge in Sheffield next month.

The seven-day event pits the top junior talent against each other in an end-of-season national swimming event.

His latest milestone comes after a succession of outstanding performances in the past year - including winning his age category at the County Championships earlier this year.

In addition, Yarnley competed at the regional championships in Sandwell and has set a number of club records and personal bests to propel him into the UK’s top 20 performers for his age group in a number of races.

“I am delighted that Rory has received this recognition, and I have no doubt that he will perform superbly at these forthcoming events,” said his head coach Michael Owen.

“Rory trains incredibly hard and deserves this success; his enthusiasm and dedication for swimming is an inspiration for every club member.”

Yarnley will return to Sheffield a week later where he has qualified for the 800m and 1500m Freestyle races in the Swim England National Summer Meet.
