‘Gutted for him!’ - Wolves fans react with shock over Rob Edwards’ sacking
Wolves supporters have taken to social media to react after the club's decision to sack head coach Rob Edwards.
Wolves supporters have reacted with shock to the sacking of head coach Rob Edwards.
The club are set to appoint Portuguese boss Cesar Peixoto as his successor.

Edwards was informed of the decision on Thursday morning while on holiday abroad, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure at Molineux just days after Wolves announced the high-profile signings of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez.
The 43-year-old, who guided Luton Town to promotion to the Premier League, was appointed by Wolves in November last year with the club's relegation already appearing inevitable.
The sudden change has sparked a strong reaction from supporters, many of whom have taken to social media to express their surprise at the timing of the move.
One supporter said: “Very odd, deserved a few games to see his style in the championship, seems a big risk to have someone who doesn’t know the championship, worked once before I guess.”
Another added: “Crazy! I’m gutted for him - all the good things that happened this week and then they do this.”
It is understood Edwards had been heavily involved in Wolves' summer recruitment plans and did not anticipate the decision, having played a key role in Trippier's arrival.
A supporter said on our live blog: “Rob was given the impossible task of trying to rescue a club already torn apart by the owners. He achieved a few good results, but the motivation was then lost and the team just fell apart. While some of his tactics and team selections were questionable, he at least deserved a little more respect.”
Brazilian midfielder Andre was full of praise for Edwards when he signed a new Wolves contract, with the pair understood to have developed a strong relationship. Edwards also featured in the announcement video for Jimenez's surprise return on Tuesday night.
“Very strange timing if they were going to sack him why not at the end of the season instead of letting him get involved in transfers,” said one fan.
Peixoto, 46, arrives having spent his managerial career exclusively in the Portuguese league system.
One fan wrote: “Really shocked at the sacking of Rob Edwards. It’s the timing of it that seems so wrong. Why didn’t they sack him immediately after the season had finished? He seemed to be one of the driving forces in getting Andre to sign his contract.”
Another added: “I am no Edwards fan. But bringing in a manager of this pedigree with no experience of this division, at this moment, does not give me confidence. I think they have just scored an own goal. But time will tell.”
However, some supporters have backed Wolves' decision and hope Peixoto can follow in the footsteps of former Portuguese head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, who enjoyed significant success at Molineux.
One supporter said: “Let's not pretend we've sacked Pep (Guardiola) here. His win percent was 13 per cent. He led Luton to back-to-back relegations. We needed a fresh start. Yes weird timing. But right decision. Hail Cesar!”
Another added: “Right move to sack him now in my opinion, no point waiting 10 to 12 games into next season to potentially review his position. It was a stick or twist moment, sack or keep for the whole of championship campaign.”
Other Wolves supporters have echoed these thoughts.
Another said: “I don't think RE impressed - he didn't pick any players up, their form was very much of their own making with no impact coming from his style of management.”
