Cesar Peixoto confident of delivering an improved Wolves against Cardiff
The boss believes this week is important in taking a step forward with his team.
Cesar Peixoto believes valuable time on the training pitch will ensure supporters see an improved Wolves against Cardiff on Saturday.
The boss is confident his team will be better thanks to having a full week to prepare for the visit of the Bluebirds - after claiming they have spent more time in the video room than on the grass since the international break.
Peixoto reckons the extended three-week break disrupted momentum with a large chunk of his squad away from Compton Park.
Wolves then faced five matches in a fortnight with the majority of time between focused on recovery work.
Peixoto, booed by some sections of the crowd in last weekend’s win over Watford, is grateful for the time he now has to work with his players.
“I don’t like to talk about it because it feels like an excuse,” he said.
“But it is the truth. If you stay three weeks with only six players, how are you going to train?
“When we have a long week we are going to improve the team for sure. I don’t have any doubts about that.
“The players have more time to recover. I look to the results with some of the issues we have because all we have been doing is play, recover, play, recover.
“We train more in meetings with talk and videos than on the pitch.
“That is what I think of our moment but it is what it is, we have to fight to find solutions.”
Peixoto is hopeful Fer Lopez and Nasser Djiga will both be back for the weekend after missing the Watford win with injuries.
After Cardiff, Wolves travel to face Bristol City and Wrexham before the next international break.
Peixoto added: “It is what we need in this moment, to recover injured players, to ensure players are fresh to play and to put our idea of the training session onto the pitch to improve the team.
“We need this time. We had three weeks of the international break and it has been five weeks without training with all the team.”
