Shrewsbury Town boss reveals reason for defender’s absence against Fleetwood
Shrewsbury Town welcome Fleetwood Town for their final home game of the season.
Gavin Cowan has revealed that Will Boyle’s absence from Shrewsbury Town’s clash against Fleetwood Town is due to personal reasons.
Boyle had featured in all but one of Salop’s games under Cowan prior to the Fleetwood fixture, making 42 appearances in League Two this season.
The defender was missing from the squad for what is Shrewsbury’s final home game of the campaign. Cowan made four changes to his side, with Sam Stubbs and Tom Anderson coming into the defence.
Explaining Boyle’s absence, Cowan said: “He has been excellent, it is just family personal reasons for Boyle. We are all thinking of him at this time.
“He won’t be with us today. I told him to stay with his family, which is the right thing. He will be back with us next week, hopefully.”
Boyle has been a consistent presence for Town this season, starting all but one of his league matches, including every game under Cowan.
