‘Really crack on’: Defender delivers positive Shrewsbury Town verdict
Ruffels lifted the lid on Shrewsbury Town’s change in fortunes.
Josh Ruffels believes Shrewsbury Town are well placed to “really crack on” after finding their feet this season.
Salop turn their attention to the FA Cup this weekend, aiming to avoid an upset against National League side Eastleigh in the first round.
Town endured a frustrating start to the season but enjoyed an upturn in form last month, despite suffering defeat at the weekend. And experienced defender Ruffels believes the team are now starting to click.
He said: “The gaffer has mentioned it takes a little bit of time. There’s a certain way that we play that can take a little bit of time to adjust.

“But luckily we have finally adjusted, and quite early, I’d say, we’ve figured it out. We’re in a good position to really crack on now.”
Shrewsbury will be hoping to carry their recent momentum into the cup and embark on another run in a competition which has brought the club several memorable moments in recent years.
Vice-captain Ruffels believes the mood in the camp is increasingly positive, with the team beginning to find their rhythm.
“I’m just glad it has clicked now,” the 33-year-old added.
“The strikers are in form. Defensively, we’ve been a little bit frustrated with conceding the way we have, but that’s something we’re looking to work on.
“But everything’s in a much more positive place and we’re really happy.”

Ruffels signed a new deal this summer and has been a regular in Town’s defence. Having seen several new faces arrive during the summer, he believes the squad are now beginning to gel.
He said: “I think we’ve all gelled really well as a group. That’s credit to the gaffer for bringing us all together.
“There’s been a real good togetherness. We’ve worked hard on that throughout the start of the season and it’s come into fruition now. It’s showing on the pitch.”
