Josh Davison backs Shrewsbury Town to challenge much higher in League Two
But Davison kept his personal target a secret after setting out the team’s goals.
New boy Josh Davison believes Shrewsbury Town have the quality to push much higher in League Two this season.
Davison is one of eight summer recruits brought in as part of Salop’s rebuild after Gavin Cowan steered the club away from relegation last term.

And after scoring his first goals for the club on Saturday, the striker believes Town can challenge much higher up the division.
He said: “We’re aspiring to be up and around it. We want to push, all of us as a group.
“We know what we’ve got collectively and individually as talented players. We’re looking forward to pushing as high as we can.”
On a personal level, Davison kept his own goal target under wraps as he looks to build on his brace after admitting he has endured a few difficult years in front of goal.
“I’ve got my targets,” he continued. “I keep it close to my chest, just with my family and me. I set goals, and we’ll see if I can get them.”
Town’s competitive campaign begins with a trip to Salford City in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Saturday, and Davison believes the squad are beginning to click at the perfect time.
He added: “We’re all excited. I think working relationships on the pitch now are starting to come out and I’m starting to learn relationships with the players.
“I can’t believe how quickly it's come around. I’m excited now to just get going.

“We were all saying off the back end of the Villa game, we’ve had some lovely spells in it. If we can take that into Saturday, we’ll be flying.
“It's just about keeping the momentum. It’s come round so quickly and everyone’s just raring to go now.”
Salford have also undergone significant change this summer after missing out on promotion in last season’s League Two play-off final. The Ammies have appointed Peter Cklamovski as their new boss and made several new signings ahead of the campaign.
Saturday’s cup tie offers an early glimpse of what could be in store before Salford visit the Croud Meadow in the league three weeks later.
Davison said: “It’ll be both of our first games of the season. It’ll be nice to get a gauge of where we’re at, where they’re at. It’s a good test.”
