Dave Edwards: Shrewsbury wanted a win - but it was a valuable point gained at Cambridge

Four points in the last two games is a positive return for Shrewsbury and they should take confidence going into a tough run of fixtures.

I think they would have gone to Cambridge with the mindset to win the game, but as it played out and with them going behind, it is a point gained.

It was important they did not lose on Saturday, the performance was not bad either and they played well in phases of the game, especially when you look at the number of players they have out with the guys who are on international duty and the longer-term injuries.

It is hurting them in the middle of the pitch so they had to shuffle the pack a bit on Saturday with Brandon Fleming coming inside and Taylor Perry playing in a deeper role – it worked quite well.

Perry has been an excellent signing, one of the stand-out performers this season, and he put in another terrific display. He is very calm on the ball and he keeps things ticking over for Shrews.
