Shrewsbury’s new midfielder Ryan Finnigan wants to add goals to his game – and could make his Town debut tonight in the EFL Trophy.

The 19-year-old, who turns 20 later this month, signed on deadline day on a season-long loan deal from Southampton.

It will be his second taste of senior football after he went on loan to Crewe Alexandra earlier this season making 16 appearances and scoring one goal.

His strike rate in front of goal is something the youngster is hoping to improve during his spell in Shropshire.

He said: “I’d like to score more than I did last year.

“The manager has got his ways in which he wants me to fit in. I’m happy to do that whether that means getting forward and helping the attack or playing in the pivot role.

“I’ll give my all for the team and the manager.

“I’m a versatile player. Over the past couple of years I’ve played in a few different positions. I personally think my best position is in midfield.
