Telford Town begin 'new chapter' as 14 players leave and 15 join in major squad overhaul
Telford Town have welcomed 15 new signings as part of a major squad overhaul, with the club signalling the start of a "new chapter".
In a post online, Telford confirmed a long list of arrivals and departures following what it called a "period of transition", during which a number of players expressed a desire to leave the club.
The reshuffle follows the appointment of Steve Hinks as manager in early January, after he stepped into the vacant role left by Matthew Boswell.
While significant turnover is common in non-league football following a managerial change, Telford have seen 14 players depart, with 15 new faces coming through the door.
New arrivals include strikers Ryan Boothe, Kyron Cooper, Cole Griffin and Ronaldo Ramirez, along with winger Kai Cunningham - all joining on dual registrations with Bedworth United, Shifnal Town, Stafford Rangers, Kidderminster Harriers and Shifnal respectively.
The club has also signed forward Ryan Nesbitt, alongside winger Luke Allport, midfielders Harry Rix, Jude Thomas, Will Holt and Tatenda Chirata, defenders Asa Charlton, Tyrique Douglas and Mattues Morgan, and goalkeeper Jack Sandel.
Players to have left the club include Callum Bennett, Oli Cooper, Essa Faburay, Kyle Jordan, Joe Care, Tom Daley, Will Evans, Macara McNulty-Hartnett, Andy Nicol, Joey Nixon, Dominic Smith, Ewan Wenger, Ryan Mills, and Jack Boswell.
In a statement, the club said: "Telford Town FC can confirm a number of squad changes as the club enters a new chapter and moves forward with clear intent for the remainder of the season.
"Following a period of transition and a number of players informing the club they wished to depart, the management team have worked decisively to reshape the squad, adding experience, physicality and competition across the pitch as preparations continue under the new regime."
Telford currently occupy a play-off position in the North West Counties League Division One South, sitting fourth in the standings.
Former manager Boswell has since taken charge at Shawbury United - Telford's scheduled opponents in the TJ Vickers Cup semi-final last Tuesday.
However, amid the scale of squad changes, Telford were unable to field an eligible team for the tie.
In a statement, the club cited "significant and sudden squad disruption", leaving them with a "severely reduced pool of eligible first-team players".
Telford said they requested the fixture be postponed to allow time to register and field an eligible side, but that request was declined by the Shropshire FA.
Competition regulations require players to have made a minimum of three appearances for the club to be eligible at the semi-final stage, meaning recent signings were unable to take part.
