Opening date revealed for new Marks & Spencer food store on outskirts of Shropshire town

The shop in south Shropshire will launch later this month and feature products from than 100 county farms

The opening date has been revealed for a new Marks & Spencer food store in south Shropshire.

The shop will open in Sheet Road, across the A49 from Ludlow, on Wednesday, August 19 and has created 70 new jobs.

The new 15,400 sq ft market-style store will have an in-store bakery, coffee facility for takeaway drinks, a hot chicken counter and fresh produce from M&S Select Farms, more than 100 of which are based in Shropshire.

Other features include dedicated flower and wine shops and a click-and-collect point for fashion, home and beauty orders bought online.

The Ludlow venue is one of the 18 new food stores M&S is opening across the UK this financial year as it aims to double the size of its food business and invest in bigger and better stores.

Newly appointed store manager Adam Byfield said: "The countdown is on until we welcome customers to our brand-new M&S Ludlow store.

"Our sixth store in Shropshire, it will showcase the very best of M&S Food from our latest product launches to everyday essentials.

"I'm incredibly proud to be part of the local community here and of the team we've built.

"We are getting everything ready for customers ahead of August 19 and we can't wait to see you then."
