A Shropshire couple who started a business with just two toilet trailers are celebrating 20 years in the events industry.
Mark and Becky White bought their first two units in autumn 2006, with their first hire taking place at a wedding near Wem that December.
The idea came from Mark, who wanted to develop a business alongside his agricultural maintenance and repair work.
Before buying the trailers, he approached Colin Cox of Show Systems Marquees, having previously helped him put up marquees, to ask whether there was demand for portable toilet facilities.
Two decades later, Wrekin Conveniences, based in Aspen Way, Telford, supplies toilet and shower trailers for weddings, parties, festivals, corporate events and other outdoor gatherings across Shropshire, Cheshire, Staffordshire and Mid Wales.
The business remains run by Mark and Becky, with Becky managing its commercial and office operations while Mark oversees deliveries, collections and servicing.
It has also developed a fleet of trailers designed and manufactured by its sister company, Premier Toilet Manufacturing Ltd.
Mark said: “Twenty years is a huge milestone for us and one that we’re incredibly proud of.
“We’re still a family business, and we genuinely care about the service we provide. Our customers are trusting us with an important part of their event, and we want everything to be straightforward, reliable and as stress-free as possible.”
The couple say relationships with customers and other event businesses have been important to their growth. They continue to work with Show Systems Marquees, now run by Peter Blincoe and his sister Holly, maintaining a connection that began before Wrekin Conveniences was established.
The company has also received recognition at the Loo of the Year Awards 2026, gaining a Platinum Plus grading and winning the England award in the Mobile/Portable Toilets category.
In 2025, it was named UK winner in the awards' Quirky category for its Shepherd's Hut toilet units.
Mark and Becky say they plan to build on the business's first 20 years while continuing to provide facilities for events across the region.
