The Duchess of Sussex channelled a striking colour clash combination reminiscent of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, during her visit to Birkenhead.

Meghan wore a bright purple dress from Aritzia’s Babaton collection with a vivid red coat by Sentaler, and matching shoes.

Harry’s late mother Diana wore a similar choice of colours when she was famously pictured alone at the Taj Mahal in India in 1992.

The princess also wore similar shades during a visit to Thailand, and again to a film premiere in London in 1988, when she stepped out in a fuchsia and violet asymmetrical Catherine Walker ball gown.
