Bishop’s Castle Community Hospital is currently closed due to heating issues.
Work to address the issues is progressing, with bosses saying they remain on track within the anticipated three-week programme.
Therefore, they are working towards Monday (November 2) as the date to resume patient care, subject to the necessary and safety checks being completed.
The hospital is part of Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust (Shropcom), which earlier this year formed a formal partnership with the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH).
The merger resulted in the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Community and Hospitals NHS Group (STWCH) being formed.
In a statement, group chief operating officer Ned Hobbs and group chief estates, facilities and capital officer Matthew Neal said the temporary electric heating installation is expected to be completed by the end of this week.
“During our investigations, we also identified that the hospital’s hot water system has been affected and are installing a temporary electric hot water system, which we expect to be operational by the middle of next week,” they said.
“Once this is in place, we will complete the necessary safety checks, before confirming whether the building is safe to reopen.
“We appreciate the continued interest and support of our local partners and stakeholders and we will keep you informed as work progresses.
“We will provide a further update in due course, when we expect to have a clearer picture of progress towards reopening.“
