Drivers can buy new Mitsubishi cars in Shropshire again as new showroom opens

Drivers can once again buy new Mitsubishi vehicles locally

Motorists in Shropshire can once again buy brand-new Mitsubishi vehicles locally after the Japanese manufacturer returned to the UK new car market through selected dealerships.

Dealership group JT Hughes has struck a deal to be the official Mitsubishi Motors UK sales dealer for Shropshire and Mid Wales.

The new Mitsubishi showroom is now open on Battlefield Enterprise Park near Shrewsbury town centre.

The move restores a long-standing relationship between JT Hughes and Mitsubishi Motors in the UK and re-establishes a local route back into the brand for customers across the region.

Mitsubishi stopped selling new cars in the UK in the autumn of 2021, although JT Hughes continued supporting owners through its approved service centres in Newtown and Telford.

JT Hughes said that continuity had placed it in a strong position after Mitsubishi decided to re-enter the new vehicle sales in the UK market.

JT Hughes is a family-run motor group based in Shropshire which has served customers across Shropshire and Mid Wales for more than 50 years.

Managing director Paul Tench said: "Customers across Shropshire and Mid Wales have been waiting for Mitsubishi Motors to return and we're proud to be bringing the brand back through JT Hughes.

"We've continued supporting Mitsubishi owners throughout so this isn't a fresh start - it's the continuation of a relationship built on trust, knowledge and local service."

Alex Sheward, head of sales for Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said: "We are entering an exciting phase for the brand, with the imminent arrival of the Outlander PHEV and L200 Series 7.

"As we continue to strengthen and structure our appointed dealer network, we are proud to partner with long-standing and highly experienced organisations such as JT Hughes."
