Shrewsbury restaurant announces closure with 'sadness and immeasurable gratitude'
Town centre venue which launched during the latter stages of the covid pandemic will close after nearly five years in its current home
A Shrewsbury restaurant which launched during the final throes of the covid pandemic is set to shut at the end of the summer.
Rhubarb at Drapers Hall, set within the famous historic building which dates back to the 1400s, has announced it will close down on Monday September 7.
The restaurant, which serves seasonal dishes with ingredients sourced from small and independent producers, was previously housed in Shrewsbury Market Hall but expanded by relocating to its current home at Christmas 2021.

A statement posted on social media by owners Adrian Badland and Miriam Lawley said they had now taken "the right decision" to close the venue in St Mary's Place but did not elaborate further on the reasons behind the move.
It said: "It is with both sadness and immeasurable gratitude that we announce the closure of our restaurant, Rhubarb at Drapers Hall from 7 September.
"It has been an incredibly successful journey for all involved but after much thought and careful consideration we have concluded this is the right decision for us at this time.
"We have chosen to make this announcement early to ensure you have the opportunity to redeem any gift vouchers as they will not be valid for use after 7 September.
"We are thrilled to be entering this final chapter with such a wonderful team whose positivity and commitment has always been outstanding as we know it will continue to be until the end of this adventure.
"Thank you for your continued support. We would love to see you before our last service."
