500 homes and large employment site plan revealed for Shropshire town

A consultation on the plan will take place later this month

Developers have revealed plans to build hundreds of homes and a large employment site in Shifnal.

The proposal is being prepared by Harrow Estates for land to the east of the town; members of the public are invited to a consultation event later this month.

The firm said the site earmarked for the scheme would house around 500 homes and 150,000 square metres of employment space - equivalent to 21 football pitches.

The land for the site to the north and south of Stanton Road, and to the east of Coppice Green Lane, opposite Idsall School is traditionally known as green belt land.

The northern section of the scheme is proposed for residential development and the southern section is proposed for employment uses.

An invite to the consultation event mailed to some of the town’s residents said: “Harrow Estates is bringing forward emerging proposals for a new sustainable, landscape-led development that will deliver new homes, new jobs, create new green spaces for the local community to use, whilst helping to improve local walking and cycling connectivity.”

Detailing the plans for the scheme, the invite said there would be a new country park with walking and cycling routes, and a new car park to support the nearby schools and Shifnal Football Club.

The consultation takes place at Idsall School from 3pm to 7pm on Wednesday, July 15.

Harrow Estates said: “We invite you to join us at our public consultation event to learn more about our emerging plans, ask questions and share your views.”
