Powys town council renews membership of national organisation

Powys town council pays £585 for membership of national organisation

Builth Wells Town Council has agreed to renew its membership of One Voice Wales from April.

Town clerk Louise Hammond said One Voice Wales is the only representative body for the council as a body.

Mrs Hammond although the town council had not called on One Voice Wales for help recently and they are not as active as they once were, she would recommend renewing its membership because it is a safety net for the council.

Chief Executive Lyn Cadwallader said in a letter to the council that the past year has seen many positive developments to the organisation’s services and for the community and town council sector in general, which they believe adds significantly to the value for money offered by One Voice Wales membership.

The organisation said it continues to represent the sector in a wide variety of ways,- by meeting regularly with the Minister for Finance and Local Government, representing the sector on the Local Government Partnership Council and they have maintained and enhanced their working relationships with the Welsh Government, Welsh Local Government Association and the Welsh Council for Voluntary Associations.

It continues to make significant contributions to public policy developments through representation on several Welsh Government advisory panels and was successful in a funding bid to recruit a digital project manager and a cost of living crisis support team.

The organisation also provides free legal advice, an advice and support service, training for members and staff, general information, and a monthly newsletter.

The council agreed to re-join One Voice Wales.
