New creative studio and shop launching in Ironbridge Gorge
Harriet Bloom Creative Apothecary will sell crafts and materials and offer workshops in art, journaling and nature-based making
A new shop and creative studio is opening next month in the historic Ironbridge Gorge.
Harriet Bloom Creative Apothecary will be based at Maws Craft Centre, in Jackfield, and have a retail store selling papers, ribbons, up-cycled textiles, haberdashery, botanical materials, journals and vintage creative finds.
Alongside the shop, the team will offer small-group workshops known as 'The Creative Nook'.
These will be centred around learning skills such as stitching and textile arts, creative journaling, paper arts and nature-based making aimed at all levels including beginners.
The Maws Craft Centre is a collection of art, craft and design studios housed in the refurbished Victorian tile factory of Maw & Co which was once the world's largest tile manufacturer.
The buildings now comprise independently run studios comprising a mix of artists, designers and makers, galleries, the Tile Press café, the Gorge Parish Council office, IT consultants and media companies.
Harriet Bloom is the creation of Annette Poyser, a designer, maker and workshop leader who has been developing her craft for several years.
She said: "The gorge has always drawn makers, artists and people who care about beautiful things.
"Harriet Bloom is a space where people can come in, browse, be inspired, pick up materials they've never worked with before and then make something. It's a creative destination as much as it's a studio."
A launch event is being held from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday July 4 - no advance ticket or booking is required to attend.
