Mural could be created on a wall at prominent Builth Wells site
Ideas for a possible Builth Wells town centre mural are being considered
A new mural may be created on a wall at a prominent Builth Wells site.
The town council’s caretaker Isaac Coe suggested a mural at the Croeso site in the centre of the town after working in that area for some time.
Builth Wells Town Council has been working in partnership with Builth Pottery Hwb to improve the former eyesore site.
Town clerk Mrs Louise Hammond told the council recently that Isaac had suggested creating a mural on the wall there following a conversation with the property owner.
She said: “He has been working in that area for some time and thought it would be a great addition. The Council would fund this through the community project fund.”
Mrs Hammond said she could contact the owner of the wall and the Builth Wells and District Heritage Society, to see if they have any ideas of what the mural could depict.
Councillors said they thought it would be nice to have a mural of Builth Wells castle there as Prince Llywelyn the Last, who died near the town, is already depicted in a mural as you enter the town over the bridge.
Members were asked to think about the possibility and to let the clerk know if they have any ideas for a mural there.
The site, which commemorates the Investiture of the former Prince of Wales now King Charles, at Caernarvon Castle in 1969, has become an eyesore.
The town council has said for a couple of years that they would like to be able to upgrade it, but there had been issues with the ownership of the site.
Discussions have led to a solution recently.
