Motorist, 36, who drove in Shrewsbury after taking cocaine gets driving ban

He was also fined £120

A motorist who drove after taking cocaine has been disqualified from driving.

Liam Price, aged 36, drove a Ford Fiesta on Ennerdale Road, Harlescott, Shrewsbury on February 4 this year.

A drugs test found that Price had 177 micrograms of benzoylecgonine, a by-product of cocaine, per litre of blood in his system. The legal limit, accounting for the possibility of accidental exposure, is 50mcg per litre.

Price, of Hazler Crescent, Church Stretton, pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to driving with a proportion of a controlled drug above the specified legal limit.

Magistrates banned Price from driving for 12 months and fined him £120.

Price was also ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £48 victim surcharge, bringing his total legal bill to £253.
