Alexander Stone ‘stalked’ and ‘hunted down’ his sister Catherine in Kington after seeing her in the street and returning home to get a claw hammer.

He found her doing some shopping in Nisa supermarket on July 22 2022 and unleashed a hammer attack on her in full view of shoppers and members of the public, many of whom intervened.

Judge Martin Jackson said two men who stopped the attack and put themselves in danger deserve High Sheriff commendations for their actions.

The 38 year-old of Bridge Street was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on Friday.

Judge Martin Jackson said Stone had ‘stalked’ and ‘hunted down’ his sister unleashing an attack on her while she was shopping.

He obtained a claw hammer from his house and carried it in a ruck sack as he looked for her throughout town.

He entered the rear of the Nisa store at 12.04pm and came up behind his sister, drew the hammer and shouted at her; “I f***ing hate you” before hitting her with the weapon.
