Halfords relocating Shrewsbury store to new home
Construction is now under way on larger shop close to its current unit
Halfords is building a new larger store in Shrewsbury.
Construction work has started on the new shop which will be housed in a vacant corner of Meole Brace Retail Park, a stone's throw from its current home.
The store will cover more than 12,000 sq ft and operate over two levels, selling its range of car technology, parts and cleaning products alongside bikes and bike accessories and clothing.
Staff based at the existing shop will relocate over to the new store which is being built on vacant land between TK Maxx and The Food Warehouse in the north-east corner of the retail park.

A statement from the listed retailer said: "Halfords is relocating its existing Shrewsbury store to a new site within Meole Brace Retail Park.
"The new store will comprise approximately 7,500 sq ft of ground-floor retail space alongside a mezzanine of around 5,000 sq ft.
"The existing store will remain open until the new location is ready, ensuring continuity for customers.
"All colleagues currently working at our Shrewsbury store will move across to the new site. The store will benefit from a brand-new fit-out.
"However, we are unable to confirm the level of investment or any potential additional employment opportunities at this time."
