Specialists Hedley Studios has created the 2.9-metre-long car.

Porsche has partnered with specialists Hedley Studios to create a smaller version of its classic 550 Spyder.

UK-based Hedley Studios has worked with several manufacturers and built scale versions of their iconic models, and now, it’s the turn of Porsche.

The Hedley Studios Porsche 550 J measures 2.9 metres long and 1.2 metres wide, making it around 80 per cent of the size of the original Spyder. Underneath, there’s an 8kW electric motor in standard specification or a higher-ouput 16kW version on models equipped with the RS Package.

The 550 J will manage a top speed of around 50mph but, unlike other Hedley Studios cars, cannot be driven on the road.

Limited to just 250 units, each car uses a steel spaceframe chassis over which is laid a full carbon-fibre body. With all cars being handcrafted in the UK, there’s a wide selection of customisation options for buyers to choose from, ranging from different paint to interior upholstery selections.

Ben Hedley, Founder of Hedley Studios, said: “The Porsche 550 Spyder marked a milestone in the company’s history as it was the first Porsche developed specifically for motorsport; a car capable of competing with and beating the best in the world.

“It was not only fast, but also lightweight, driver-focused and characterised by a remarkably clear and honest design language. With the Porsche 550 J, we wanted to preserve that spirit while making it relevant for a new generation.”

The Porsche 550 J by Hedley Studios can be ordered now, with each costing £69,500 plus local taxes.
