Porsche revives iconic ‘Moby Dick’ design for one-off GT2-based 911

Porsche enthusiast had his 911 GT2 RS transformed by Porsche’s Sonderwunsch department.
One lucky Porsche owner has had their 911 GT2 RS transformed into a special-edition car inspired by the famous Le Mans race car ‘Moby Dick’.
Created by the brand’s specialist Sonderwunsch department – which looks after bespoke and one-off creations – the GT2 RS uses a ‘Flachbau’ or ‘slantnose’ body style which has been used on many Porsche race cars over the years.
Today, thanks to their limited numbers, Flachbau cars are among some of the rarest that Porsche has ever created. Highlights include a modified version of the 1980s 930 911 Turbo, of which just 948 examples were sold.

Based on a 2018 model, this example gets the now-iconic flatter front wings, with headlights arranged into narrow LED sections. Slatted air outlets help air to vent out from the wheel arches while reducing pressure underneath, improving grip. There’s a Grand Prix White exterior colour which contrasts with matt black sections and other areas finished in exposed carbon fibre. The ‘U-shape’ graphic pays direct reference to the original ‘Moby Dick’ race car, too.
An extensive aerodynamic kit has been added to the one-off, with features such as an adjustable large rear wing allowing the Flachbau to generate up to 554kg of downforce when travelling at the car’s top speed of 211mph.

Inside, the Flachbau retains the original GT2 RS’ stripped-back approach. Exposed carbon fibre and red Alcantara are used throughout, while there’s very little in the way of sound deadening or coverings to help keep weight as low as possible. ‘Flachbau RS’ lettering is applied to the headrests of the racing seats, while a gold badge with ‘Sonderwunsch’ can be found on the dashboard, alongside a ‘Factory One-off 2026/Flachbau RS’ engraved plate.
The GT2 RS Flachbau will now go to its new owner after its public unveiling at Monterey Car Week in California.
