The charity's High Flyers campaign gives people the chance to have their own name, or that of a loved one, displayed on the underside of its H145 air ambulance helicopter, registered G-HMAA.

A total of 1,200 names have already been added across three of the aircraft's four distinctive chevrons, with the remaining 400 places available for a minimum donation of £150.

The initiative was launched in February 2025 alongside the arrival of the charity's new helicopter, giving individuals, families, community groups and even pet owners the opportunity to dedicate a name to the aircraft.

Those taking part receive a personalised certificate featuring their chosen name, along with a commemorative coin in a keepsake card.

The donations help fund the charity's emergency medical service, which provides specialist pre-hospital care to patients across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, the West Midlands and Worcestershire.

Emma Wood, associate director of income generation at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: "The response to our High Flyers initiative has been incredible. Reaching the point where three of the four chevrons are now full demonstrates the remarkable support we receive from our communities.

“Every name added represents a personal connection to our charity while helping to ensure our crews can continue providing lifesaving care to those who need us most. With just 400 spaces remaining, we're encouraging people to secure their place on the helicopter before this unique tribute is complete.”

One supporter who has already taken part is Kate, from Gloucester, who dedicated a name to her grandparents, Peter and Mary Tanner.

Her grandfather was helped by the air ambulance more than 25 years ago, while her grandmother went on to raise thousands of pounds for the charity.

Following her grandmother's recent death, the family raised more than £700 in her memory.

Kate said: "We thought it was beautiful to have her and my grandad’s name appear on the air ambulance whilst it goes on to support others in their time of need.”
