People's Emergency briefing to be screened again in Llandrindod Wells after technical problems at first event

A second screening of the film The People’s Emergency Briefing about the climate and nature crisis will take place on Wednesday, September 23, Trawsnewid Llandrindod Transition has announced

It will be held at Centre CELF, Tremont Road, Llandrindod at 7.30pm for 8pm.

This follows the failure on August 14 of the original film halfway through the screening owing to a technical problem.

Organisers said; “This is an opportunity to see and discuss the film for the first time or to get the full picture with the important messages you missed previously.”

The film is being shown in over 2,500 communities and workplaces across the UK including at least 17 in Powys alone, with the aim of building public support for a government-backed, televised emergency briefing to the nation on the climate and nature crisis.

It follows an emergency briefing in Westminster last November when more than 1,200 MPs, peers and leaders from across UK society heard directly from senior independent science and climate experts about the scale of the risks facing the UK and the response now required.

In order to engage as many people as possible in local discussion it is not currently available to watch online or on broadcast media.

Admission is free and coffee, tea and a licensed bar will be available courtesy of CELF.

A petition to Parliament organised by the National Emergency Briefing to ‘Hold a UK-wide briefing on climate and nature risks’ has surpassed 100,000 signatures, securing consideration for a parliamentary debate.

The petition remains open until November 20, 2026, as organisers push for a prime-time televised emergency briefing, see: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/767687#main-content
