Watch the terrifying moment a driver comes face to face with a car speeding the wrong way down the A5

The high speed chase was captured on Thursday night on the A5 westbound near the Dobbies roundabout.

A Shropshire motorist has captured the moment a car being chased by police hurtled down the wrong way of the A5 in Shrewsbury - just days after a similar incident saw seven killed in Middlesborough.

The terrifying incident on Thursday night, saw a south Shropshire motorist and their passenger dazzled by headlights as a car came barrelling towards them while a speeding motorist was trying to lose a police tail.

The high speed chase at 9.32pm on the A5 westbound towards the Dobbies roundabout, was caught on dash cam by the terrified motorist.

It shows a pair of headlights hurtling towards the car that contained Danny from Church Stretton and his daughter.

The pair were heading home from Oxford towards the Dobbies roundabout on the A5 when they saw the car heading towards them on the wring side of the road.

Danny can be seen swerving the car as far to the right of the carriageway as possible while the errant car speeded past them the wrong way.

The speeding car was shortly followed on the correct side of the road by three police cars with their blue lights flashing.

Danny said the incident was “terrifying” but the pair were both unharmed following the high speed incident.

The footage was shot just days after seven died in Middlesborough on Saturday after a car carrying five men travelling the wrong way on the A66 crashed into a police car killing two police officers.
