Cody Johnson’s 59th-minute free-kick broke the deadlock.

Cody Johnson’s first goal since February helped Halifax return to winning ways with a 2-0 victory at home to Yeovil.

Johnson’s 59th-minute free-kick broke the deadlock and within 10 minutes the game had been decided after Will Flint added the second and the visitors’ Archie Davies was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Johnson’s success from a set-piece ended a 25-game goalless run, with Flint registering his first since scoring Halifax’s opening goal of the season in early August as they bounced back from the midweek home defeat to Barrow.

Any hopes of Yeovil staging a late comeback were ended when Davies, who had come on as a substitute midway through the first half, was dismissed for his second yellow card in the 69th minute.
