Silver again for Ollie Morgan at the Commonwealth Games
The Bishop’s Castle swimming ace was beaten by South African Pieter Coetze in Glasgow once again.
Shropshire’s Ollie Morgan was forced to settle for silver again as South Africa’s Pieter Coetze continued his domination of the backstroke events at the Commonwealth Games.

It was a fourth silver medal of the games for Morgan – three in the individual backstroke events and one as part of the Team England 4x100m freestyle squad in Glasgow.
In those three individual events, the Bishop’s Castle ace has been beaten by Coetze every time – all of them in Games records.
Having come up second best in the 200m and the 50m, Morgan was unable to find the extra nine-tenths of a second he needed to overhaul his South African rival in the pool.
However, there was never any danger of the University of Birmingham affiliate taking less than silver as he finished a second and a half clear of another South African, Ruard van Renen, in the bronze medal position.
