Following the draw on Monday evening, the Robins are set to host Cymru South outfit Caerphilly Athletic when the next round is staged on the weekend of 13-14 November.

Jamie Hyne helped himself to a hat-trick for Newtown and scored the first of his treble to make it 2-0, after Sean Griffiths had opened the scoring inside 10 minutes.

Gareth Evans added a third just before half-time, before Ollie Sharp scored either side of another two goals from Hyne.

Llanuwchllyn were reduced to 10-men during the second period and Hanoch Boakye completed the Robins’ rout with a seventh in the closing stages.

“Definitely a good performance from the start, which was really key,” head coach Owen told the club.

“If you start well in any game then you know you’ll start on top. We’ve spoken so many times about being on top, winning your first and second contacts, and I thought we did that really well.

“Especially in the first five or 10 minutes to get us a foothold in the game. There were a lot of people playing well and there were a lot of 7s and 8s.

“To get two quick goals early on in a cup game was important. To see the patterns then come off today, the work rate, the movement and seven goals, was great.

“If I’m being critical then we could’ve got a few more, but all-round it was just a good performance and a good day for us.”

Newtown will turn their attentions back to the Cymru North when they return to league action at Rhyl 1879 on Saturday.
