The hosts proved far too strong for their Cymru North rivals as they struck a magnificent seven times without reply.

Jamie Hyne led the victory charge with a hat-trick, while Sean Griffiths, Gareth Evans, Ollie Sharp and Hanoch Boakye all netted once.

The Robins were quickly out of the blocks and there were strong shouts for a penalty after just eight minutes when Griffiths appeared to be pushed as he prepared to head home. But the appeals were waved away by the referee.

Newtown were soon back on the attack as they put their visitors under pressure, and Boakye forced a good save from Llanuwchllyn goalkeeper Evan Parry.

But the deadlock was broken from the resulting corner. A goalmouth scramble ended with the ball falling to Griffiths and he calmly slotted home his first competitive goal for the club.

Newtown then quickly delivered a second blow in the 13th minute.

Rian O'Riordan's header was spilled by keeper Parry and Hyne was in the right place at the right time to fire home the rebound.

Kieran Mills-Evans then went close twice from corners while Hyne was denied by Parry.

But the pressure finally told a minute before half-time when Evans fired home from outside the penalty area to make it 3-0.

At the other end, captain Kieran Mills-Evans produced a superb block just before the break to deny Llanuwchllyn a goal.

The Robins picked up where they left off after the break.

Hyne extended their lead five minutes into the second half after being teed-up by Boakye for a simple finish.

Things went from bad to worse for the visitors when Dale Davies saw red in the 58th minute following a a second yellow card.

Parry made some good saves to deny the Robins but he was beaten again on 65 minutes when Sharp netted his first goal of the season.

Star man Hyne completed his hat-trick in the 71st minute, tapping home from a Sharp corner.

The impressive Boakye wrapped up the scoring late when he ran onto Scott Moncrieff's pass and calmly placed a shot past the keeper.

Newtown are back in Cymru North action on Saturday when they make the trip to Rhyl 1879.

The Robins are sitting third in the table, four points behind leaders Brickfield Rangers, but with a game in hand.
