Newtown boss hails returning duo as ‘like new signings’
Newtown boss pays tribute to star’s hard work after injury nightmare.
Newtown boss Jay Owen has hailed the returns of Uniss Kargbo and Dean Bryan as being “like new signings”.
Both have returned to action after lengthy injury lay-offs, with summer signing Bryan coming off the bench against Rhyl on October 24 before starting last weekend’s victory over Buckley Town.
Kargbo also featured as a substitute against Buckley, replacing Bryan, and Owen was delighted to have the pair back available.
He said: “(I am) really pleased for the lads coming back from injury. Uniss has had a long injury, I think it was four or five weeks, so for him to come back in and perform how he did for half-an-hour is great to see.

“And a huge mention to Dean. He broke his ankle in the second session and we were so devastated for him.
“But the hard work he has put in to get back on that pitch, and he set this game as a date he wanted to get back. And he has, he has worked so hard to get his fitness back and he has kept himself in good shape.
“You wouldn’t have known he had been out for that long the way he performed. I am really happy for him.”
He added: “We spoke about this about six or seven weeks ago, the injuries that we had and when they come back they will be like new signings. And Dean is like a new signing.
“We are in a good space at the moment squad wise.”
