For much of the season they trailed Blymhill, who looked favourites to complete a league and cup double.

But they dropped three vital points in their final two matches - despite winning 3-2 and 4-1 - and that left the door open for Maddocks.

Two 5-0 wins, the first one against wooden spoonists Chelmarsh C, and the second one against Alveley C, resulted in Maddocks taking the First Division title by a single point.

The final match of the season saw a 79 break from Paul Harper as he put Alveley’s Ryan Richards to the sword, while James Brennan enjoyed runs of 68 and 32 breaks on his way to beating Steve Colicott 125-5.

Wins from Steve Powell, Michael Wainwright and Neil Pearson sealed the title deal.

St John’s B will have their name engraved on the Second Division trophy for the first time having pipped Broseley B by three points.

They beat Shifnal B 3-2 in their final match of the season thanks to victories from Jason Brown and Ashley Preece, who rolled in a 40 break, plus a walkover courtesy of Shifnal having only four players.

The First Division 'Most League Wins' award will be shared by Alveley’s Martin Coffey Jnr and Gary Smith from Chelmarsh, who both claimed won 17 of the 20 matches they played.

St John’s B star Preece has secured Second Division 'Most Wins' award with 14 victories.

Maddocks trio Harper, Brennan and Powell had further cause for celebration after adding the Handicapped 3-a-side Shield to their trophy haul following a final success against Shifnal.

The Shifnal trio of John Fallows, Carl Walker and Ian Postans held a 15-point handicap advantage, but they were swept aside as Harper beat John Fallows 88-51, Brennan saw off Carl Walker 92-33 and Powell triumphed 57-40 against Ian Postans to secure a 237-139 victory.

Alveley’s Chris Jepson is also celebrating after winning the Secretary’s Shield for a record sixth time.

In the one-frame per round handicap knockout, Jepson beat Blymhill’s Nick Carson and Steve Evans (Chelmarsh) to book a final face-off with his clubmate Dave Jones, who had seen off Mick Brezwyn (Blymill) and Mark Jones (St John’s).

As was the case in his first two matches, Jepson saw his handicap advantage wiped out, but rallied back to win 65-31.
