Historic double for Bridgnorth duo - golf round-up
All the latest action from around the county’s golf courses
Bridgnorth Golf Club's Ryan Forrest and Callum Brown have secured an historic double.

They have become the first pair in Shropshire & Herefordshire Union of Golf Clubs (SHUGC) history to win the Clee Salver and Brian Lewis Trophy in the same season.
Having won the prestigious Clee Salver in April, the duo came out on top of a field of 26 pairs in the battle to claim the Brian Lewis Trophy at Church Stretton Golf Club.
The foursomes competition took place over 36 holes and Forrest and Brown maintained their impressive form as they carded a one under par 68 in their first round.
The duo then blew their rivals away in the second round as they shot a stunning seven under par 62, giving them a total of 130.
That left them four shots clear of runners-up Harry Morris and Luca Zammuto (134) and Jack Edwards and Craig Simmons (134), who were third due to their second round score being two shots higher.
Forrest and Brown were also celebrating success in the nett competition with their total of 134 seeing them triumph by one shot from Ben Hartshorne and Daniel Hartshorne.
Nick Apperley and Cary Miles were third.

There was further success for Bridgnorth as they overcame Shifnal in the Ken Smith final and defend their trophy.
Shifnal GC won the first leg 2-1 at home, but Bridgnorth turned the match around with a 2.5-0.5 success on their own course to take the aggregate victory.
Not only was it the second year in succession Bridgnorth lifted the trophy, but also the third time in total.
Top 10 for Rickett

Shropshire golf sensation Louis Rickett has continued his blistering start to the 2026 season with a hard-fought top-10 finish at the Welsh Men’s Amateur Championship.
Competing against an elite field of more than 100 amateur golfers from across the UK, the 16-year-old held is own in championship conditions at Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club.
Over the first two days of the tournament, the field was battered by 30 mph winds that made scoring incredibly difficult, with no player shooting under par on the opening day.
Despite the gruelling start, Rickett climbed the leaderboard with a one-over-par third round and a one-under-par final round to finish 10th overall.
He next heads to Droitwich Golf Club on Tuesday to compete in the regional qualifying event for the Brabazon Trophy - the prestigious English Men’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship.
