Wolves striker misses pre-season trip as clubs circle for signature
The forward is set to leave Wolves
Tolu Arokodare has not travelled with the Wolves squad for their pre-season training camp in Portugal as clubs circle for his signature.
The striker is attracting interest from several European clubs and Italian side Fiorentina are the latest to have a bid rejected.
They made a loan offer to Wolves, but it was turned down due to the loan fee being too small, and it is understood they will need to significantly increase their offer to strike a deal with Wolves.
However, the two clubs remain in talks and the 25-year-old has been left at home as the rest of the squad travelled to Portugal on Monday for a week-long pre-season training camp.
Arokodare is expected to leave Wolves this summer and the club are open to offers, with a loan away currently the most likely outcome.
Turkish side Trabzonspor had a loan offer rejected last week and are still at the table to sign the striker, but it is understood Arokodare prefers a move to Italy over Turkey.
Both clubs, among others on the continent, remain in talks to sign him and Fiorentina are expected to return with an improved bid.
The Nigerian international only signed for Wolves last summer in a deal worth up to £24million, but he scored just three Premier League goals and six in all competitions from 38 games as Wolves were relegated.
He reported back to Compton last week for pre-season training but is now edging closer to an exit after being omitted from the travelling squad to Portugal.
Previous head coach Rob Edwards was keen to move Arokodare on this summer following a dressing room bust-up with team-mate Mateus Mane after the 4-0 defeat to West Ham, in which Arokodare was the sole aggressor.
He is now set to play no further part for Wolves next season under new boss Cesar Peixoto.
