'It's very similar' - Fer Lopez on the same wavelength as Wolves boss
Fer Lopez is set to play a key role for Wolves.
Fer Lopez admits he is on the same wavelength as Cesar Peixoto and his footballing philosophy as he bids to help Wolves take the Championship by storm.
The Spaniard, who signed last summer for £19.5million before spending the second half of the season on loan back at his former club Celta Vigo, is set to play a big part for Wolves in 2026/27.
Despite Celta showing interest in signing him again, Peixoto is keen on Lopez being his creative spark, and the player likes the style of play being asked of him.
“I don't know, it's only pre-season, we will see,” Lopez said when asked if he expects to be important to Peixoto in the new campaign.
“But I'm happy with how he understands football, I think it's very similar to the way I understand it and I think he's a good manager.
“I feel happy when I play.
“I'm happy also with my team-mates, I haven't seen them in a while, so I'm very happy to see everyone again.”
Lopez missed the friendlies against Maidenhead and Real Sociedad with a small groin injury, before coming off the bench to score the opener in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Doncaster.
“The week that I didn't play those two matches was a minor setback, so it was very good to play 45 minutes again,” Lopez added.
“Just getting minutes in the legs, getting ready for the next games and hoping to play some minutes at Molineux on Saturday to build up.
“They told me that it's very tough to go up (from the Championship).
“In Spain, it's quite similar, when some historical teams go down, it's very hard for them to go up. Some even get relegated to League One, so I know it's very tough, but the goal is to win.”
