West Brom hosting Premier League new boys in behind-closed-doors friendly finale
The Baggies have one more pre-season clash to face.
Albion will welcome Premier League new-boys Coventry City to The Hawthorns on Tuesday evening for a final friendly of the summer.
The warm-up clash is to take place behind-closed-doors and act as a final tester for James Morrison’s side and the club’s stadium.
The Sky Blues earned promotion to the Premier League last season under Frank Lampard, and Baggies boss Morrison is looking for a top-level challenge before the 2026/27 gets under way.
Coventry were understood to be willing visitors, on the basis the fixture takes place behind-closed-doors.
Coverage will be minimal, with no photos or video highlights. The club are expected to produce a match report.
The fixture will also as a test for new instillations at The Hawthorns ahead of the first home clash of the campaign, which is against Burnley later in the month (August 23).
Those include the new PA system, installed earlier in the summer, with a required test event to ensure it can be certified before the first home league game.
Morrison’s men begin their 2026/27 with a first round EFL Cup tie away to League Two Rotherham on Saturday at 5.30pm. The first Championship clash is at Norwich seven days later.
