Classy gesture James Morrison made to Mark Townsend ahead of West Brom's clash with Sheffield Wednesday

Albion went to Hillsborough for the first time since the tragic death of Mark Townsend.

Albion went to Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough on Saturday for the first time since September 28, 2024, when lifelong supporter Mark Townsend lost his life aged 57 following a heart attack.

The experience was a harrowing ordeal for the Townsend family and friends and Albion fans in the Leppings Lane end.

And ahead of the game Albion boss James Morrison paid a touching and classy tribute to Townsend.

After the players arrived at the ground, an Albion shirt with Townsend’s name on the back was placed outside of Hillsborough.

And it was accompanied by a card that was signed by the newly appointed Albion boss.
