Winning formula? Our predicted Shrewsbury Town team at Rochdale
After victory over Salford City, here’s the Shrewsbury Town XI we think will take on Rochdale.
This is perhaps the easiest predicted Shrewsbury Town team story yet.
After securing their first League Two victory of the season, it would be a surprise to see Gavin Cowan make many changes to the side that got the job done against Salford City.
Of course, there are no guarantees. But after Saturday’s performance, those players certainly deserve another chance to pull on the shirt.
Tom Anderson was the surprise name on the teamsheet at the weekend, but the transfer-listed defender was immense as Town dug in to claim all three points.
His performance means Luca Hoole could once again operate in the wing-back role, where he also impressed.
The midfield looked far better than it had during the midweek drubbing at Fleetwood Town, while the defence rediscovered the solid, resilient qualities that became a trademark of Cowan’s side during the second half of last season.

There is also the possibility of a debut for Michael Golding. The Leicester City loanee was named among the substitutes against Salford after completing his move to Shrewsbury, and Rochdale could be the game in which he is handed his first minutes.
New recruit Kian McMahon-Brown could also be in contention after Town completed a deal for the Burnley youngster. The versatile attacking midfielder adds another option in the forward areas and could give Cowan a selection decision to make.
Isaac Fletcher was preferred in the attacking role at the weekend, too, and it will be interesting to see whether Cowan sticks with him or opts for a change.
But, for now, continuity looks the most likely outcome. Here is our predicted Shrewsbury Town team for the trip to Rochdale.
