Shrewsbury remain firmly in the West Midlands Women’s League Premier Division title race, just two points behind league-leaders Hednesford Town.

The points were shared between Sutton United and AFC Telford United in a 1-1 draw, with Abigail Beady grabbing her 10th goal of the season.

The Bucks remain second in West Midlands One North, four points behind Sunday’s opponents Sutton.

Whitchurch were behind at half-time, although an added-time goal from Ellie Hill had halved the deficit before the interval.

A goal from Ellie Darrell in the second half and another strike from Hill secured a point for Alport.

Wolves, who play their home games in Telford, lost 4-2 on the road to Bristol City in the WSL 2 despite taking the lead through Amber Hughes.

Hughes would grab another goal, but it would prove to be a consolation as Wolves came away from Ashton Gate empty-handed.

Manager Daniel McNamara described the loss as a “reality check” for his team.

The New Saints returned to winning ways with a 4-0 victory against Aberystwyth Town with two goals from Fiona Barry accompanied by strikes from Caitlin Chapman and Abbie Iddenden.

TNS currently sit second in the Adran Welsh Premier League, only behind Wrexham on goal difference.

It remains an intriguing battle at the top of the Shropshire Women’s League with Ellesmere Rangers and Dawley Town only separated by goal difference at the top-of-the- table.

Dawley Town put 10 past Wem Town on the road with four goals from Taylor Wright, two goals from Kacey Robinson and the rest of the goals being shared between Sophie Baylis, Mollie Edwards, Rose Parrish and Katrina Ravai.

Bethan Jones ran the show for Ellesmere with a second-half hat-trick in a 5-2 victory over Albrighton. Felicity Townsend also grabbed two goals as the league leaders fought back from two goals behind, courtesy of Albrighton’s Isabel Chadwick.

Broseley beat Shropshire Lionesses 5-1 with goals from Maia Preston, Kelly-Anne Dowling and Skye Doughty cancelling out Francesca Roelake’s second-half strike for the Lionesses.
