To do so the former Town defender will look to freshen up and improve his squad at Croud Meadow with a recruitment drive to follow this summer.
Town ended the campaign four places and 10 points clear of the drop zone.
Six senior players were released at the end of the campaign with the futures of three offered deals - Luca Hoole, Taylor Perry and Josh Ruffels - to be finalised.
So when can Town officially begin to carry out transfer business?
The summer transfer window will open on Monday, June 15.
Recruitment staff will have been working to line up deals in time for when registrations can be formalised.
Deals can be unveiled by clubs prior to the date but the formal league approval cannot take place until the middle of next month.
Football League clubs in the Championship, League One and League Two have two-and-a-half months to complete their transfer business.
The window’s deadline is on Tuesday, September 1. The deadline has returned to 11pm having been brought forward to 7pm in this season’s windows.
And how about the January window?
The dates for the winter window are straight-forward.
The new year marks the start of business with the window open on Friday, January 1.
Clubs have until Monday, February 1 at 11pm to conclude mid-season business.
