Burnley youngster becomes Shrewsbury Town’s 10th summer signing

Shrewsbury Town have added another attacking option with the Burnley loan swoop.

Kian McMahon-Brown has become the latest Shrewsbury Town signing - and the 10th arrival of the summer.

The Burnley starlet has joined Gavin Cowan’s side on a season-long loan, with Town moving quickly to get the deal over the line ahead of the transfer window shutting.

The highly-rated 18-year-old becomes Salop’s latest addition as Cowan continues to strengthen his squad, with the versatile forward capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or striker.

McMahon-Brown had been on Town’s radar with talks progressing between the clubs last week before a deal was finally struck.

And now the Republic of Ireland youth international has headed to Shrewsbury for his first taste of senior loan football.

The teenager has been with Burnley since under-14 level and enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season, scoring 11 goals for the under-21s despite playing above his age group.

His form earned him the club’s academy player of the season award and a place on Burnley’s first-team pre-season tour of the United States.

McMahon-Brown then put pen to paper on his first professional contract this summer, signing a two-year deal with the Championship outfit after his scholarship came to an end.

Now he has been handed the chance to take the next step in his development with Salop.

The move also gives Town another option in the attacking areas, with boss Cowan having made no secret of his desire to add players in that area of the pitch.
