Two historic towns reopen outdoor paddling pools after two years - perfect summer holiday day out

Families looking for a budget-friendly summer holiday day out now have another reason to visit two historic towns

Two of the region’s best-loved outdoor paddling pools have reopened just in time for the summer holidays after being closed for two years.

Families can once again cool off at the paddling pools in St Nicholas Park, Warwick, and Victoria Park, Leamington Spa, following a major refurbishment programme.

The reopening also gives families across the West Midlands and neighbouring Shropshire another great option for a summer holiday day out, with the historic towns of Warwick and Leamington Spa both within easy driving distance and packed with parks, attractions and places to eat.

The reopening has been eagerly anticipated after both attractions shut in 2024 when they reached the end of their operational lifespan. Although they were originally expected to return in May 2025, the reopening was delayed while improvement works were completed.

St Nicholas Park's paddling pool welcomed visitors from Wednesday morning, with excited families flocking to the attraction as temperatures rose. Warwick District Council said the pool was quickly "swamped" with people making the most of the sunny weather.

The council had initially confirmed Victoria Park's paddling pool would reopen later in the week, but it also opened shortly after midday on Wednesday, allowing children and families to enjoy both popular splash spots from the same day.
